Creating a custom website with an integrated blog for our car blogging division was one of the most fun projects of 2020.
The work began with the rebranding of the blog, finding an evocative and playful name and creating the logo.
The project
01.Dynamic
The fine details suggest movement, complimenting the shape.
02.Detailed
The cat has pistons in place of the heart, a gearbox, an air filter near the nose, a lambda probe in the tail, as well as suspensions in the paws.
03.Diferentiated
The name uses a discreet chromatic diferentiation.
Starting from the desire to illustrate the sports pedigree of the content, the logo created is a dynamic and playful one.
xWhite
The basis tone of the site allows the eyes to relax;
Yellow
It creates a strong contrast with the black that underlies the branding, helping to attract attention.
Petroleum gray
The basic tone for the header and footer, as well as for the pages with legal information, contributes to the modern air of the site.
Light gray
Used to strengthen associations with the newspaper, associations that bring to mind the object of activity.
Lime green
The color used by some teams in motorsport with black and white, creates a pleasant contrast with dark tones.
Abril FatFace
Used for section titles, it is chosen for its vintage character.
Montserrat
Used for text bodies, due to its simple character, which contributes to readability.
The main source of inspiration is the list of photos taken by Mechanicats at various car events.
The moodboard suggests movement and action, indispensable attributes in the case of a car publication.
The site
The newspaper, reinvented
The Mechanicats blog has a vintage, newspaper air - created by arranging the articles on the page, but also by the photos chosen for their illustration.
Omogenity
The first page takes over the last articles in a manner adapted to the design of the blog for a homogeneous image.
With utility in mind
The calendar on the first page shows the events of the current year. Clicking on an event opens a way with all the relevant information: articles about the event, the gallery of the event and the podium.
Power to the press
The story of the blog is rendered like a comic strip, contributing to the playful air of the blog.
Cookie policy, customized
The legally binding pages have not escaped personalization either, each of them rendering the information like a story, with terms adapted to the field.
